18 Micro-Changes to Totally Reset Your Life
Teeny shifts that will change your entire 2026!
One rabbit hole I love to go down is hyper-specific words/phrases that don’t exist in English.
There’s Arabic Ya'aburnee (hoping you die first so you don't have to live without someone), Scottish Tartle (the awkward hesitation before introducing someone you forgot the name of) and Sprezzatura—how Italians describe someone with a charming, nonchalant chicness that’s actually very curated.
The emo kid in me is especially partial to Toska, a Russian word that Vladimir Nabokov explained as “great spiritual anguish” for no real reason. (Russians can always find a reason).
But the ultimate doesn’t-exist-in-English word for me is the German Lebensmüde: life tired.
Not suicidal, but that world-weary feeling of…Jesus Christ, this shit again. Just the exhaustion of being alive and productive and alert every god damned day.
The week between Christmas and the new year should be renamed Lebensmüde Week because isn’t that how so many of us feel? Even if we had a magical holiday, no doubt it was deeply exhausting because it came at the end of a whole year that was no doubt deeply exhausting.
Well, I’m not one to take things lying down. I mean, I’m not really one to lie down at all, hence the burn out. Even worse, when I am life-tired, I (paradoxically, ill-advisedly) want to take action to somehow escape the existential dread.
Cue the Chinese Zodiac.
I’m not particularly into any version of astrology (just enough, I joke, to be considered a white blonde chick) but 2025 has been the Year of the Snake—shedding, growing, releasing, strategizing—and woah, if that doesn’t resonate, right?
Everyone I know, from any walk of life, is just DONE. Absolutely frazzled, heavy, fragmented or just so ready to be finished with stale behaviors and situations.
I know that I am. This year I’ve walked away from so many things, from men I loved and stagnant friends, to the wan hope that Montana would be my forever home and the perfectionism that literally crippled my body.
Big things.
And when we think about changing our lives, we think about those big changes right? Huge sweeping declarations, major overhauls, 2am bangs!
But sometimes, little things add up to the biggest changes. Wee little micro-shifts that may seem trivial but can create a positive domino effect throughout your life and habits.
I’ve compiled a list of such teensy tiny things that actually create a foundation of change, relief and power in your life.
Do them all, or pick just a few and see how you feel. Who knows, they may put a little sprezzatura in your step…

Joy is not childish. It’s restorative. What was your perfect 9-year-old day? Make time for her and re-align to your higher self.
Now, bonus: a few questions to help you shed 2025 and prepare to ride the power of 2026, the Year of the Horse.
✨ What version of me feels tight, performative, or outdated?
✨ What am I still carrying because it once kept me safe?
✨ Who do I still explain myself to that no longer deserves access?
✨ What habit, role, or belief has already expired — but I keep dragging forward?
Today inside The Shallontourage, I go much deeper on this with a full Year of the Snake deep-dive video and a guided, editable Shed Ritual PDF to help you release the people, patterns, and identities that quietly drain you.
This is also where I’m preparing everyone for The 4% Club — a January series for women who don’t want resolutions, but systems that actually stick.
When you’re ready to go deeper, it’s all waiting for you there.

Thanks Shallon, after being diagnosed with cancer 2 months ago (and after an awful wait, thankfully finding out that it’s thought to be stage 1 and treatable) I’m ready to use this as an opportunity to have a rethink about what I want my life to look like going forward. These prompts were a great starting point for some fresh thinking! Thanks for everything you put out, I wish you a great 2026 x
I love this post soooo much Shallon!! Thank you so much for this!! I always wish you health, happiness and success beyond your expectations! You’re such a blessing like Laura St. John! I hope you’re enjoying the holidays and happy new year! You deserve the world! 🫶❤️♥️💙💕💝
